THE TEAM

STEVEN ROY & ALEX MURRAY
CO-CHIEF DIRECTORS OF TABULATION

Steven and Alex have enjoyed tabbing a massive variety of competitions together, both in Europe and abroad. They have a wealth of experience working as joint-tabmasters at many of the largest British competitions, including the LSE Open.

They have both tabbed Oxford and Cambridge IVs in 2017 (where they first met) and 2018, when Alex was tabmaster. They have a lot of international experience - for example, Steven was tabmaster at the Asian BP Championships in Shanghai 2018.

Both Steven and Alex were on the tab team at Novi Sad EUDC, and will be at Astana EUDC, where Alex will be joint-tabmaster. In addition, Alex is joining the tab team for Thailand WUDC! In the next few months, Alex and Steven are going to lead tab teams together at a number of large competitions, including the North American Universities Debating Championships, as well as the Oxford IV and the Cambridge IV.

They hope to get to meet more of you at these competitions, and in Madrid in 2021!

Annemarijn Tamminga

My name is Annemarijn Tamminga and I’m from the Netherlands. I just finished my bachelor’s in Medicine and am currently doing a Research Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Next to my studies I’m working in the Erasmus Medical Centre at the ICU. I started debating in high school and started tabbing 3 years ago, when I got involved in organising DAPDI. Since then I’ve tabbed around 20 tournaments, both within as outside of the Netherlands, with Amsterdam 2019 being the biggest, having around 100 teams participating. I have convened DAPDI twice and I’ve also been the 30th President (or Chairperson) of the Erasmus Debating Society.

Fernando moreno

He's been in the debate circuit for 5 years. When he started university he joined Babel, and now he's an honorary member. In these years he has attended more tournaments in the Spanish-speaking circuit than he remembers and wishes to have attended a few more. Over the years he has accomplished more than 25 national and international Spanish speaking breaks. When the pandemic started he started a proyect where people could debate every day 1 round at the same hour for over two months. This sparked his interest in tabbing and since, he has tabbed a great number of tournaments in the Spanish speaking circuit, including CEDD, UNED, UFV, Europe Direct, Gad-UAB and next January he will tab the Spanish speaking WUDC (CMUDE)

the application process

applications open
12th of october

The application form will be released. Interested applicants must fill the form by the 24th of October at 23:59 Madrid time. The application form is one of the main ways in which we gain insight into our applicants, so we encourage candidates to fill it in carefully and take appropriate time to do so.

form

open feedback by the community 25th of october

We will publish a list of applicants, and the debating community will be invited to submit feedback on our potential TAB Officers, which may be non-anonymous or anonymous, but will in all cases be treated with the utmost discretion.  Open feedback is very important - we can hardly be everywhere at once, and we see this as an invaluable tool to gather data on an applicant’s track record and potential. Feedback will close on the 1st of november at 23:59 Madrid time

deliberation and online interviews 2nd of november

Once we have collected most of our data, we will begin deliberating over our applicants. During this time, we may choose to approach some of the candidates to schedule an online interview. Getting an interview or not getting an interview is not in any way indicative of the possibility of getting the position, we merely see it as another tool to obtain information on our applicants.

tab announced
9th of november

Our chosen TAB team will be announced to the community! Yay!
